Lovely Kate joins Harvey's gang, with her big sister Kate.

Hi everyone, meet the lovely Kate, newest Harvey's gang member, with her big sister Kate.

Today at St Richard's, Chichester, we had a double Harvey's gang tour where Rose and her big sister Kate met the team and toured the laboratory.

It was a great morning tour, but the laboratory was a little warm and stuffy for young Rose. They were very attentive, and listened to every word Adam told them in chemistry. (honest, it wasn't all lies!!)

They really seemed to enjoy themselves in Blood Transfusion and Rose talked at length with the lovely Angela, Ola and Edel, watching samples being processed on the Ortho Innova's.

that was on the platelet rocker.

Noor joins Harvey's gang at UHS Southampton

Kerry and the team at Southampton had Noor visit the laboratory and join Harvey's gang.

Noor herself is well, but her 1 year old brother is currently in and out of hospital for dialysis as a result of renal failure, he is on the transplant list.

Noor wanted to visit the lab to find out why we take so many samples from her Brother.

She said she “had the best time and loved chromatography with "colours”.  She went back to her brother (who has been admitted overnight) with a smile on her face and a LabCold penguin.

Harvey’s Gang initiative makes a really big difference to these kids.

Here is the lovely letter that Kerry received afterwards thank you,

Dear Kerry,

Thank you to you and everyone involved in Harvey's gang for giving us this wonderful opportunity to come and see what goes on in the lab, especially as it's always so busy.

The work you all do is remarkable and it was lovely to see the journey Sulaiman's blood takes twice a week! He couldn't be in better hands.

The photos look wonderful and Noor has enjoyed seeing them very much. She has been telling her dad and younger brother all she did and how beautiful the nail polishes were.. 🙈

We enjoyed the whole tour, particularly the experiment with colours and looking down the microscope. As well as Pickachu looking down at the command centre making sure everything was ok! The teenage mutant machines were also very cool.

I will definitely be following up what we saw and learnt today in our homeschooling sessions for science. Thank you once again to you all for such a wonderful tour.

Best Wishes,

Noor and Nazia

Harvey's gang presents: #Smudges mascara!

Harvey's gang presented at the Leadership in Transfusion Conference in Birmingham on Wednesday.

I would like to thank the organisers of this excellent conference for the invitation to tell you a story about Harvey. Thank you Denise and all the team, and the NHSBT Patient Blood Management team.

I loved the feedback from the presentation; There were a number of ladies that said my talk should come with a warning #Smudges mascara! Sorry, still affects me every time too.

Our Harvey's Gang coats supplier has also advertised Harvey's gang on their web site too. I would like to say a BIG thanks to Dave and his Team for their continued help and support in re-supply of our coats at cost: THANK YOU.

The conference on the second day, Thursday, was based around Paediatric and Neonatal Patient Blood Management and the vast enthusiastic audience did come and meet Harvey's Gang.

I now have a list of another 14 NHS Trusts that are interested into following Western Sussex NHS Hospitals Foundation (Outstanding) Trust and introducing Harvey's Gang into their Trust.
